Friday Night Sensory Recess
The Mug with the Blue Pattern
Give your Listener a little R&R
Sometimes your ears have simply had enough.
Conversations. Phones. Traffic. Television. Other people's noise. Your own noise.
So every Friday, I'm making something a little different.
A short restorative experience and an original sensory story for grown-ups.
We'll begin by getting you set up in a restorative position — using whatever you've already got around you.
Pillows. Cushions. Blankets. The sofa. Your bed.
Then there's nothing else you need to do.
I'll tell you a story.
This week's story: The Mug with the Blue Pattern
A rainy September evening.
A cottage that hasn't been visited for a little while.
A reluctant fire. Hot chocolate in a very particular mug. Sticky ginger cake. And the smell of a cigar that seems to know something Anna has almost forgotten.
Sounds, smells, tastes, textures and tiny sensory details are woven throughout.
There's no particular state you're supposed to achieve and nothing you're supposed to feel afterwards.
Sometimes we can simply give our senses something different to attend to for a little while...
and see what happens.
