The stories are extraordinary. But how do we actually teach with them?
Gods with elephant heads. Monkeys who leap across oceans. Goddesses battling demons. Churning oceans, cosmic dances, severed heads and battlefields used to explore some of the biggest questions of being human.
Yoga is full of extraordinary stories.
But bringing them into a modern yoga class isn't necessarily as simple as telling one.
How do you give enough context without delivering a lecture?
How do you find the meaning beneath the story?
How do you weave that meaning through a class rather than telling a story at the beginning and then forgetting about it?
And how do you avoid reducing a rich tradition to “Hanumān = splits”?
That's what we're going to explore.
From story to experience
In this 2½-hour live training, we'll explore a practical framework:
STORY → MEANING → TEACHING → EXPERIENCE
We'll look at how to choose and research a story, understand its context and find the philosophical threads running through it.
Then we'll explore how those threads can travel through your teaching — through language, movement, sequencing, imagery, the senses, pauses and reflection.
Not making the postures act out the plot.
Not turning your students into an audience for a philosophy lecture.
But allowing the story to become part of the experience of the class.
We'll work through a complete example together so you can see how a myth can grow into a class rather than simply being added onto one.
You'll leave with
A repeatable way of working with myth in your own teaching; greater confidence exploring the stories behind yoga; practical ideas you can use immediately; and a complete worked example to help you build your own myth-inspired classes.
You don't need an academic background in yoga philosophy or Sanskrit.
Curiosity will do nicely.

About Jackie
I've been teaching yoga for more than two decades, and my own studies have taken me far beyond āsana into yoga philosophy, history, anatomy, neuroscience and the ways human beings actually experience what we teach.
One of the things I love most is taking something that can appear complicated, distant or academic and asking:
What can we actually do with this in a yoga room?
Mythic Yoga is exactly that.
Not mythology as decoration.
Not philosophy pasted onto an āsana class.
Story as a way into meaning — and meaning as something our students can experience for themselves.
