MAKING YOGA MAKE SENSE – THE JOURNEY WITHIN

For yoga teachers who want to teach more than poses, but don’t know how to bring the deeper stuff into class without making it weird, abstract or overwhelming.

You care about your students.

You want your classes to mean something.

You want to offer more than another nice sequence, another hip class, another “heart opener,” another quote at the start that everyone forgets by the time they roll up their mat.

But being a yoga teacher right now can be overwhelming.

You’re trying to plan classes.
Keep students interested.
Market yourself.
Keep learning.
Do your CPD.
Stay inspired.
Earn enough.
And somehow not lose the will to live every time you sit down to plan another class.

Maybe you worry you’re not bringing enough depth into your teaching.

Maybe philosophy feels important, but you don’t know where to start.

Maybe Sanskrit makes you nervous.

Maybe the chakra language you were taught has started to feel a bit… off.

Maybe you’ve taught the eight limbs, the chakras, a few quotes, a bit of nervous-system language — but you still don’t know how to weave it all together in a way that feels natural.

Or maybe you’re a newer teacher thinking:

I don’t just want to instruct poses. I want to actually teach yoga. But how on earth do I do that?

That is what The Journey Within is here for.

A way in. And a way through.

You do not need to arrive with a deep knowledge of yoga philosophy.

You do not need to know the Bhagavad Gītā.

You do not need to love Sanskrit.

You do not need to already feel confident teaching chakras, mythology, the senses or nervous-system ideas.

And if you have studied some of these things before, this course helps you bring the pieces together so they stop sitting in separate notebooks, trainings and half-used CPD folders.

The Journey Within gives you the thread.

A practical teaching framework to help you turn the deeper teachings of yoga into classes, workshops and retreats your students can actually understand, remember and use in real life.

No philosophy degree.
No Sanskrit anxiety.
No pretending to be a teacher you’re not.

Just big ideas, made human.

Make SENSE of yoga.

Then teach it so it makes sense to everyone else.

Inside this course, you’ll learn how to start where your students actually are:

The queue at Tesco.
The message that floors them.
The argument where their words disappear.
The moment they feel left out, overwhelmed, angry, shaky, silenced, or not enough.

Then you’ll learn how to bring yoga in.

Not as a lecture.

Not as a performance.

Not as “your chakra is blocked.”

But as language, practice and enquiry that helps students understand themselves.

Because students may enjoy a good sequence.

But they remember the teacher who gives them words for real life.

"I love it. The work with the Five Senses is inspired and incredibly well put together. I have already started to bring some of the framework to my students. Their feedback, WOW."

I built this because I’ve been there.

I know what it feels like to finish teacher training and think:

Right. Now what?

You’ve got your certificate.
You’ve got a manual.
You’ve got some sequences.
You’ve got bits of philosophy, anatomy, chakras, cueing, ethics and practice floating around in your head.

But when it comes to actually standing in front of a class and teaching something meaningful, it can still feel like you’re trying to build the plane while flying it.

I’ve been that teacher.

And I’ve also been the experienced teacher with years of trainings behind me, still staring at a blank page thinking:

What the hell am I teaching this week?

Another hip class?
Another heart opener?
Another seasonal theme?
Another quote at the start and hope for the best?

I’ve been the tired teacher doing CPD I could barely afford, hoping the next training would finally give me the missing piece.

I’ve been the studio owner trying to keep classes, workshops and trainings fresh.

I’ve been the teacher who loved the depth of yoga, but had to work out how to make it land with real people with real lives, real stress, real grief, real relationships, real bodies, real overwhelm.

And over time, I realised something:

Most yoga teachers are not short of care.

They are not short of passion.

They are not short of another notebook, another quote, another saved post, another training manual.

What they are often missing is a way to turn the deeper teachings into something teachable.

Something human.

Something students can actually take home.

That is why I built The Journey Within.

Not to give you more information to collect.

But to give you a way to use it.

A way to build classes, workshops and retreats from real human experience.

A way to bring in philosophy, chakras, mythology, the senses and nervous-system ideas without making students feel lost.

A way to teach with depth, but still sound like yourself.

A way to make yoga make sense.

Begin Your Journey

How this helps your teaching business

This course is not just here to give you interesting ideas.

It is here to give you material you can actually use.

The Journey Within can help you:

Save time
because you are no longer starting from a blank page every week wondering what to teach.

Save money
because you are not constantly buying disconnected CPDs, workshops and trainings hoping the next one will give you the missing piece.

Stand out in a saturated market
because you will have a recognisable way of teaching that goes deeper than another nice sequence.

Plan classes with a clear thread
because you start with real human experience, then bring the yoga in.

Create workshops
using themes like belonging, boundaries, voice, meaning, fairness, grief, anger, overwhelm, self-trust and nervous-system response.

Plan retreats
with a structure that feels meaningful from start to finish, rather than just adding yoga, journaling and a sound bath and hoping it feels transformational.

Use your own voice
because this is not about copying how I teach. It is about giving you a framework you can make your own.

Give students something they remember
because they leave with language they can use in real life, not just a sequence they enjoyed for an hour.

This is how the course saves time.

Not by giving you shortcuts with no depth.

By giving you a framework you can return to again and again — for classes, workshops, retreats, short courses, handouts, journaling, meditation and practice.

One idea can become a class.
One class can become a workshop.
One workshop can become a retreat.
One framework can support your teaching for years.

Always know what to teach next

When you don’t know what to teach, you won’t be starting from a blank page.

You’ll have a growing library of practices, themes, handouts, reflection prompts and teaching companions you can use across classes, workshops and retreats.

Inside the course, you’ll find:

  • ready-to-use class themes based on real human experience: existence, belonging, fairness, boundaries, voice and meaning
  • chakra teachings as lenses for life, not blocked or broken discs
  • movement practices that connect directly to a theme, rather than feeling randomly attached
  • quick resets you can teach in minutes: the desk reset, the phone reset, the Kālī tongue reset and more
  • sense-based practices for sight, sound, touch, taste and memory
  • professional handouts and reflection journals you can use with students
  • teacher companions for Modules 1–5, so you can build classes, workshops and retreats with more confidence

This is not a course you watch once and forget.

With lifetime access and an expanding practice library, it becomes a teaching resource you can return to again and again.

One idea can become a class.

One class can become a workshop.

One workshop can become a retreat.

One framework can support your teaching for years.

A taste of how it works

Kālī and the demon who wouldn’t stop multiplying

In the old story, a demon called Raktabīja has a strange gift: every drop of his blood that hits the ground becomes another demon. So the harder Kālī fights him, the more demons appear. That is escalation. And we all know escalation. The email from your boss.
The car that won’t start.
The traffic.
The message that lands badly.
The person who says, “Calm down,” which obviously helps absolutely nobody.

One thing becomes ten things.

Your FFS scale goes up.Your swords come out.

The battlefield is active.

In the story, the rampage only stops when Shiva lies down in front of Kālī. Not to shame her.
Not to tell her she is too much.
Not to say, “Calm down.”He gives her a pause.A moment of recognition.

That is mythology as something useful. Not a story dropped over the top of class.

A way to help students understand escalation, pause, recognition and response.

It is nervous system education wrapped up in metaphor.

That is how The Journey Within works.

You start with real life.

Then you bring yoga in.

So instead of dropping a story over the top of class, you learn how to turn it into a teaching your students can recognise in themselves.

 What makes this course different?

This is not chakra teaching as a list of blocked and balanced discs.

It is not:

Mūlādhāra = grounding
Svādhiṣṭhāna = creativity
Maṇipūra = confidence
Anāhata = heart opening

and off we go.

That kind of teaching can be useful as a starting point, but it can also become too generic, too diagnostic, and too far away from the actual person in front of you.

Inside The Journey Within, the chakras become lenses for human experience.

Not repair projects.
Not spiritual faults.
Not another way to tell students what is wrong with them.

So instead of teaching:

“Your root chakra is blocked.”

You might ask:

“Has something touched the battlefield of existence?”

Money.
Home.
Health.
Work.
Body.
Future.

Instead of teaching:

“Your sacral chakra needs balancing.”

You might ask:

“Has something touched belonging?”

Rejection.
Being left out.
Not being chosen.
Losing your place.
Coming home to yourself.

Instead of teaching:

“Your heart chakra is closed.”

You might explore:

Anāhata as the battlefield of boundaries.

Not forced openness.
Not “everyone hug everyone.”
Not prising the heart open because grief, heartbreak or fear must mean something is blocked.

But contact.
Choice.
Protection.
Softness.
Edges.
What gets through.
What needs to stay out.

That is what makes this teachable.

You are not memorising a list.

You are learning a way to look at human experience through yoga, then turn that into language, practice, enquiry and class themes your students can actually use.

Because one student’s landmine on the battlefield of existence might be money.

Someone else’s might be health.

Someone else’s might be home, work, body or future.

The framework does not tell students what their experience means.

It gives them a way to ask:

What has been touched here?
Where is my sword sharp?
What do I need now?

That is what makes the teaching personal, human and usable.

From class theme to workshop, course or retreat

This course is not just here to give you interesting ideas.

It is here to give you material you can build with.

One of the biggest struggles for yoga teachers is taking a good idea and turning it into something structured, teachable and memorable.

You might have a theme.

You might have a story.

You might have a chakra, a quote, a sense, a nervous-system idea, or something you want your students to explore.

But then comes the hard bit:

How do I turn this into a class?
How do I turn that class into a workshop?
How do I turn that workshop into a retreat or short course that actually stands out?

That is where The Journey Within helps.

It gives you a framework you can use again and again, so you are not starting from scratch every time you want to create something deeper.

You could build a class, workshop or retreat around:

The Six Battlefields
Existence, belonging, fairness, boundaries, voice and meaning.

The Sensory Kitchen
Using the senses as doorways into practice, reflection and real-life understanding.

The Āhāra of Relationships
What we take in, what we digest, what we reject, what we carry, and what we keep feeding ourselves through our relationships.

Word Bombs and Feather Words
How language lands in the body, and how the words we use as teachers can either wound, soften, support or open enquiry.

The Chakra Lenses
Not as blocked or broken discs, but as ways of exploring human experience.

The Five Soldiers
Practical ways to understand the forces we reach for when life feels difficult.

So when I say this course can help you plan classes, workshops and retreats, I mean it.

A single idea can become:

a weekly class
a workshop
a retreat day
a full retreat theme
a short course
a handout
a journal prompt
a meditation
a movement practice

This is how the course saves you time.

It gives you a structure you can return to again and again, and enough depth that the material can grow with you for years.

Because in a saturated market, another nice sequence is not always enough.

Students remember the teacher who gives them language for real life.

And retreats stand out when they are built around something people can actually feel, understand and take home.

What’s inside The Journey Within for your teaching

This is not a course you watch once and forget.

It is a teaching resource you can return to again and again — for classes, workshops, retreats, short courses and your own practice.

Inside, you’ll get:

The Teaching Framework

A clear way to start with real human experience, then bring yoga in.

This helps philosophy, chakras, mythology, the senses and nervous-system ideas stop feeling like separate pieces, so you can teach with one connected thread.

Teacher Companions

Modules 1–5 include Teacher Companions to help you turn the material into classes, workshops and retreats with more confidence.

They are there to help you ask:

How would I teach this?
What language would I use?
How could this become a class, workshop or retreat theme?

The Practice Library

This is where the ideas become practices you can use, adapt and teach.

Original Namaskars and Practices created specifically for this Course

These are not generic sequences pulled from a training manual or copied from elsewhere. They are practices that I have created to bring the framework into the body - including sensory namaskars, chakra-based practices, resets, mantra, mudra and meditation.

Handouts and Reflection Journals

Professional resources you can use for your own study, with students, or adapt and use as part of workshops, retreats and short courses.

These are designed to help students take the teaching beyond the mat, so the work does not just stay in the class.

Lifetime Access

The course and library are yours to return to, so the material can grow with your teaching over time, and the library will be added to and expanded with Seasonal Teaching Packs, class ideas, and Mythic practices.

As your classes, workshops and retreats evolve, you can keep coming back to the framework for new ways in.

CPD and certificate

CPD-registered with Yoga Teachers Together CIC through Jackie Quayle Yoga Academy, a registered yoga school.

About 18 hours of teaching material, plus reflection and practice. Most teachers spend 25 to 30 hours in total.

You receive a certificate, issued by Jackie Quayle Yoga Academy, when you complete the short quiz.

This is a study course to inspire your teaching, not a teacher-training qualification.

I built this so you don’t have to piece it together alone

I’ve taught yoga for more than 23 years and have over 10,000 hours of teaching experience.

I’ve taught my own teacher trainings, run three studios, taught at the Yoga Show and Glastonbury, written for OM Yoga Magazine, and taught yoga through mythology, philosophy, the senses, the nervous system and real human experience.

But The Journey Within is not a compilation of impressive things I’ve studied.

It is the result of years of asking:

How do we make this usable?

How do we take philosophy, chakras, mythology, the senses and nervous-system ideas out of separate boxes and turn them into classes that actually make sense?

How do we stop leaving teachers with more notes, more trainings and more disconnected ideas?

How do we help students understand themselves in real life — not just enjoy a good class for an hour?

I built this because I know what it feels like to have pieces everywhere.

The sutras over here.
The chakras over there.
The mythology you love but don’t know how to teach.
The nervous-system language that sounds useful but can feel flat in class.
The CPD notes that never quite become a workshop, retreat or class theme.

So I spent years reverse-engineering the way I teach.

Not so you can teach like me.

So you can understand the structure underneath it, make it your own, and stop having to build every bridge from scratch.

This is the framework I wish I’d had when I was trying to make sense of it all.
